Our Story

Hi, I'm Lacey - founder of Murphy Ryan Design Co.

Murphy Ryan was born from my belief that home should feel warm, welcoming and deeply personal. The name comes from our golden retriever, Murphy - because the feeling he brings into our home is exactly what I hope every space holds: comfort, warmth, and unconditional love.

I grew up in Newport Beach and fell in love with interior design while helping my mom design and build spec homes after college. I was drawn to the way an empty space could slowly become a place where life unfolds - where mornings begin, dinners linger, and memories are made. 

After several years working in interior design and co-founding a lighting and home goods company (Hadley James at Home), I kept coming back to one simple truth: people want homes that feel beautiful and meaningful - but also flexible. Spaces that can evolve. Spaces that don't require permanence to feel complete. 

Now living in Laguna Beach and renting myself, I understand that desire deeply. You don't have to own a home to make it feel like yours. 

My Approach

My style is layered, warm, and timeless - spaces that feel collected over time rather than decorated all at once.

I believe in:
